Village development is most useful when it begins with the people who live there. Their priorities may concern education, health awareness, sanitation, access to information, skills, livelihoods or the environment—and those priorities may differ from one village to another.
Gram Navprerna is envisioned as a community-led approach. NPF Navprerak Foundation can first listen to residents and local groups, identify a manageable need, agree on an activity with suitable partners, and then review the result with the community. The campaign may bring together activities from other Foundation programmes where they meet an identified local need.
The name “Adopt a Village” may be used to explain the idea, but each participating village should have a clearly defined scope of work. A campaign page for a specific village can show its priorities, agreed activities, partners, progress and next steps.
Lasting village development depends on local ownership and steady collaboration.
